The Myth of the "Small" Role
When it was time for introductions, I introduced myself as a Soft Skills Trainer, Personal Development Coach, and a volunteer mentor with G4G. I took a moment to address the silence we had just experienced.
I shared a simple truth: Leadership isn't always about a title; it’s about decisiveness. Taking the minutes might seem like a small task, but in that moment, it was the engine required to move the group forward. By pointing this out, the energy in the room shifted. For the rest of the meeting, I kept us on track. Whenever we began to belabour a point without a conclusion, I reminded the group of our need to be decisive.
I left that meeting feeling energized, knowing I had empowered my fellow women to see leadership as an active choice rather than a static position.
The Global Impact of the "Power of We"
This isn't just about one Saturday meeting. Research consistently shows that women’s leadership styles favor long-term thinking, collaboration, transparency, and inclusion. This is what we call the "Power of We."
When women lead, we don’t just manage tasks; we foster environments where:
Women are the "hidden piece" in our global efforts to protect and regenerate our planet. But to change the world, we must first be willing to change the room. We must be willing to step into the gaps, fill the silences, and lead where we stand.
A Challenge to You
Think back to the last time you were in a group setting—perhaps a workplace project or an informal community gathering. Did you stay silent when a lead was needed?
It is time for us to step up. Whether it is taking the minutes or steering a global initiative, your voice and your decisiveness are the keys to a more prosperous planet.
